JUSTICE SHAIL JAIN

Born on October 7, 1966, Justice Shail Jain began her academic journey with a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Zoology from Delhi University, graduating in 1986. Drawn to the study of law and public service, she pursued her LL.B. at the Campus Law Centre, Delhi University, completing it in 1990.
In 1992, Justice Shail Jain cleared the Delhi Judicial Services Examination in her first attempt, marking the start of a distinguished judicial career. While serving as an Additional District Judge in the Delhi Judiciary, she went on to earn her LL.M. from Kurukshetra University, reflecting her commitment to continuous learning.
She served with distinction as the Principal District & Sessions Judge for three years before being elevated to the High Court of Delhi on July 24, 2025. Taking oath as a Judge was a defining moment in a career built on integrity, fairness, and dedication to the law.
Beyond her judicial work, Justice Shail Jain has contributed to legal scholarship and literature. She is the co-author of the legal guide Patent Agent Examination, published by Universal Books, and the author of ‘तमन्नाये,’ a collection of Hindi poetry. As Chairperson of the Delhi District Court’s Hindi Samiti, she has led initiatives to promote Indian languages in legal and cultural spheres. Her poetry has been featured in several Kavi Sammelans and Kavya Goshtis, where it is appreciated for its sincerity and lyrical quality.
